A coalition of pro-Duterte organizations announced plans to hold a motorcade on March 11 at Villamor Air Base, marking what they describe as the first anniversary of former president Rodrigo Duterte’s alleged “political banishment” to The Hague, Netherlands.
In a statement released Friday, February 20, the Philippine Alliance for National Accountability (PANA) and KAMPILAN claimed March 11 commemorates one year since Duterte was “seized at Villamor Air Base and forcibly renditioned to The Hague,” which they labeled “state kidnapping.”
The groups alleged the transfer was meant to silence Duterte and bypass the Philippine justice system. They framed the anniversary as part of a broader campaign against what they called “rampant, systemic corruption” in government.
“This is a national reckoning. We refuse to be silent while our institutions cannibalize our public coffers,” the coalition said, calling for a “total war on corruption” and the restoration of integrity in public service.
The motorcade is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., with participants gathering along White Plains Avenue, proceeding to EDSA, and ending at Villamor Air Base. Organizers urged supporters to join what they described as a peaceful assembly.
“Let our engines roar as one to reclaim our dignity and demand an end to corruption,” the coalition said.
Several former officials, lawyers, and Duterte-aligned groups signed the statement in solidarity with the planned activity.
The event comes amid ongoing proceedings in Duterte’s case before the International Criminal Court, where confirmation of charges hearings are currently underway.
