RAINS TO CONTINUE DESPITE CRISING’S EXIT FROM PAR; MONSOON TO BRING MORE DOWNPOURS

Although Tropical Depression Crising has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), residents—particularly in Luzon—should still brace for more rain, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA said the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat is expected to intensify, bringing heavy rains to parts of the country through the weekend.

As of its 2:00 PM heavy rainfall advisory, PAGASA placed Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Rizal, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, and Bulacan under an Orange Rainfall Warning, indicating intense rainfall and possible flooding.

In response, Malacañang earlier suspended work in government offices and classes at all levels in the affected areas.

A Yellow Rainfall Warning has been raised over Tarlac, while moderate to heavy rains are also expected in Nueva Ecija and Quezon.

The Senate has also suspended its operations starting 2:00 PM.

To assist commuters, the government has made train rides on MRT-3, LRT-1, and LRT-2 free for the rest of the day (July 21) to help employees and students return home safely.
