REGINE VELASQUEZ VENTS FRUSTRATION OVER CORRUPTION: “MAKAPAL ANG MUKHA”

Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid has once again expressed her outrage over alleged rampant corruption in the country, saying she has grown weary of those stealing from the nation’s coffers.

In a strongly worded Instagram post on Thursday, October 2, the veteran singer lashed out at those she accused of shamelessly pocketing public funds.

“Kung hindi ninanakaw pera natin KAYA to eh!” Regine began.

She went on: “The thing is hindi sila marunong mahiya kahit sabihan silang magnanakaw makapal ang mukha at isinusuka na natin sila waley pa rin, mag tuturo lang sila ng iba pang magnanakaw hangang maubos na lang nila yung ninakaw nila tapos nakaw uli.”

Velasquez lamented that while corruption continues unchecked, ordinary Filipinos like her still shoulder the burden of taxes.

“In the meantime we continue to pay taxes na pinagpaguran natin. Ano pa pwede nila lagyan ng tax ano pa! Baka paggising natin isang araw pati hangin may tax na!” she said.

The singer admitted she feels helpless over the lack of accountability and punishment for those involved in corruption.

“Ano ba gagawin natin bakit parang I feel helpless naghihintay tayo na may maparusahan na most likely wala. Anong ba gagawin natin para maituwind ang baluktot na pamamalakad na ito? At kahit iba ang ilagay natin dyan I don’t think it will change!” she added.

Velasquez, who recently turned 55, also reflected on her age and wished to see a brighter Philippines within her lifetime.

“I’m 55 konting panahon na lang ang ilalagi namin sa mundo sana man lang maabutan namin ang isang maluwaltahing pamumuhay para sa mga pilipino,” she wrote.

It will be recalled that Velasquez has previously criticized what she called the slow pace of government investigations into systemic corruption.
