Ombudsman Boying Remulla expressed continued confidence in the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) despite the resignation of former DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson, whom he described as the group’s most credible member.
“They refer cases to us, and we appreciate the fact that there are other people investigating… at least binibigay na sa amin na mayroon nang laman ‘yung reklamo. Kung ibibigay sa amin na medyo handa na, half-cooked na siya, lulutuin na lang namin nang todo,” Remulla said in a television interview.
He explained that he had long anticipated Singson’s short tenure.
“I’ve known Babes for the longest time… I knew that he wasn’t gonna stay that long. Kasi sabi niya nga eh, ‘Boss, otsenta na ako. I also have a life to live,’” he revealed.
Remulla also dismissed speculation that Singson left due to sensitive information, stressing their open communication.
“Hindi naman. Babes is a veteran. Alam niya ‘yan. Alam niya lahat ‘yan. Saka diretso kami mag-usap eh. Wala kaming tinatago sa bawat isa,” he added.
The Ombudsman further assured that his office is prepared to investigate the ICI itself if credible evidence is submitted, underscoring his commitment to transparency and accountability.
