REMULLA ORDERS 97 SENIOR OFFICIALS TO RESIGN

Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla has directed 97 senior officials appointed during the final months of former Ombudsman Samuel Martires’ term to tender their courtesy resignations.

Based on Office Order No. 347 issued on October 22, Remulla instructed all officials with Salary Grades 25 to 29, who were appointed between May 29 and July 27, to submit their resignations within seven days.

Among those named in the order were Assistant Ombudsmen Nellie Golez and Maria Olivia Elena Roxas, as well as Director IVs Christianne Lynnette Casem and Jerry Benedict Rosete.

Remulla also encouraged officials with Salary Grade 24 and below to voluntarily step down, although their resignations are not mandatory, according to a report by Politiko.

The directive follows Remulla’s earlier order requiring 204 employees hired in July—shortly before Martires’ retirement—to reapply for their positions, warning that they may be considered “midnight appointees.”

Since assuming office, Remulla has rolled back several policies under his predecessor, including reopening public access to officials’ Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALNs).

He also reviewed the 2016 dismissal order against Senate Deputy Minority Leader Joel Villanueva over alleged fund misuse but later backed off after confirming that Martires had already reversed the ruling prior to his retirement.
