Newly appointed Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla has expressed his stance on the public disclosure of the Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN), emphasizing both transparency and privacy safeguards.
During a press briefing held on Tuesday, October 7, Remulla said that while making the SALN public is appropriate, it must be done in consideration of existing laws on data protection.
“Dapat lang,” said Remulla. “Pero mayro’n tayong Data Privacy Law, mayro’n tayong pag-iingatan. Wala tayong karapatang ma-ta-trample upon.
Remulla succeeded Ombudsman Samuel Martires, whose term ended in July 2025.
Meanwhile, Department of Justice (DOJ) Undersecretary Fredderick Vida will serve as officer-in-charge of the position vacated by Remulla at the DOJ.
