Ombudsman Boying Remulla indicated that former Senator Bong Revilla could be arrested before Christmas following the recommendation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) in connection with the flood control scandal.
“Posible. Baka next week. ‘Yan (Revilla) ang low-hanging fruit tsaka matagal na ‘yan lumabas at matagal na iniimbestigahan ‘yan,” Remulla said in an interview, noting sufficient evidence links Revilla to the controversy involving former DPWH Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo and former DPWH Bulacan 1st District Engineer Henry Alcantara.
The Ombudsman is considering filing charges of malversation and plunder against Revilla.
“Most of it will be, I think malversation will be the predicate crime. Possible plunder…It’s something that is ongoing right now. I don’t know kung anong stage na ‘yung preliminary investigation,” he added.
Remulla also mentioned that other potential witnesses are currently being identified.
Bernardo had claimed he delivered ₱125 million to Revilla’s residence in December 2024 and allegedly arranged an additional ₱250 million before the 2025 campaign period, when Revilla sought re-election but lost.
Revilla has previously denied involvement in the anomalous flood control projects and affirmed his readiness to face any allegations against him.
