Former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. voluntarily surrendered to authorities on Monday following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Sandiganbayan in connection with the anomalous flood control scandal.
Revilla confirmed in a Facebook video that he had received information about the warrant. His office later clarified that he would surrender rather than wait for arrest.
“Nakakalungkot po, parang wala yatang due process. Pero ganon pa man, haharapin ko ito nang walang takot at alam kong hindi ako pababayaan ng Foyos dahil wala po akong kasalanan dito,” Revilla said.
He appealed for prayers and strength for his family.
“Hilingin ko lang… hihingi ako ng panalangin at patatagin niyo rin po ang aking pamilya. Hindi ko po maipaliwanag ang nararamdaman ko sa totoo lang, napakasakit po para sa akin at para sa aking pamilya,” he added.
The Sandiganbayan’s Third Division issued both a warrant of arrest and a hold departure order against Revilla and several others allegedly involved in the flood control scam.
Revilla’s surrender marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into corruption-tainted infrastructure projects.
