Bicol Saro Party-list Representative Terry Ridon said the truth did not die with former DPWH Undersecretary Catalina Cabral, noting that documents relevant to the flood control controversy could still be secured by the government.
“We should be able to retrieve it,” Ridon, who co-chaired the House Committee on Infrastructure that investigated the flood control fiasco, said during a forum on Saturday, December 20.
Ridon referenced Batangas 1st District Representative Leandro Leviste, who claimed Cabral had given him a list as early as September allegedly containing projects with proponents’ names.
“My question to him is it has been several months since supposed document had been provided to him, why has he not disclosed it up until today, ‘di ba?” Ridon said.
He added that Leviste may have sought to honor Cabral’s confidence, in which case, the list “should be seen in the next couple of days.”
Ridon said the document reportedly details individuals involved in corruption and kickbacks.
He stressed that the list needs to be studied to determine whether project proposals were legitimate, whether kickbacks occurred, and whether projects were properly implemented, substandard, or “ghost” or non-existent.
“It did not come from us, it came from Rep. Leviste. The challenge to him is basically disclose that list if he actually wants to honor the memory of former Usec. Cabral,” he noted.
