The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) announced on Tuesday that the gaming platform Roblox will not be banned in the Philippines, easing public concerns over child abuse and online exploitation.
According to the DICT, a meeting was held with Roblox representatives, the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), law enforcement agencies, and private sector partners to ensure the platform remains accessible while prioritizing the safety of young users.
Roblox presented enhanced safety measures during the discussion, including stricter monitoring systems, improved reporting mechanisms, and stronger age-appropriate content controls. The company also committed to launching an information campaign on April 12 to strengthen user protection and guide parents on safe platform use.
The DICT urged parents to maximize available parental controls to safeguard children in the digital space. These include monitoring screen time, setting spending limits, blocking inappropriate experiences, and ensuring access only to age-appropriate content.
“Digital safety ay responsibilidad ng platform, gobyerno, at bawat pamilya. Sama-sama nating bantayan at protektahan ang kabataang Pilipino sa online space,” the agency said.
