Following Vice President Sara Duterte’s announcement of her intent to run for president in the 2028 elections, the name of former Vice President and current Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo has resurfaced as a possible contender.
Speculation gained momentum as several netizens expressed support on social media for Robredo potentially running again.
In an interview, Senator Kiko Pangilinan—Robredo’s former running mate in the 2022 elections—clarified that she has no plans to seek the presidency.
Robredo currently ranks second in pre-election surveys among leading potential candidates for the 2028 presidential race.
She previously ran for president in 2022 but lost to Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who ran alongside Duterte under the “UniTeam” coalition.
