Former Vice President and now Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo said she is setting aside calls for a return to national politics, stressing that her priority is her current role as local chief executive.
In an interview with journalist Bernadette Sembrano, Robredo emphasized that she does not want distractions from her responsibilities in Naga.
“Hindi ko muna pinapansin kasi ayaw ko muna ma-distract ako from what I’m doing now,” she said.
She added:
“Ang obligasyon ko first and foremost, Naga.”
When asked about a possible run in the 2028 elections, Robredo said she has yet to make any decision.
“Hindi ko pa din sigurado. Hindi ako pulitikong pinagpa-planuhan kung ano ang susunod eh. Wherever the road takes me pero ang importante sa akin, with the mandate given to me, aayusin ko,” she explained.
Earlier pre-election surveys have identified Robredo as a potential contender for the presidency in 2028, with analysts noting she could emerge as a strong rival to Vice President Sara Duterte.
