ROLLS-ROYCE “FREE UMBRELLA” CAR SOLD AT BOC AUCTION

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan once owned by the Discaya family, which gained nationwide attention after government contractor Sarah Discaya claimed it came with a “free umbrella,” was sold at the Bureau of Customs’ public auction for seized luxury vehicles.

The Cullinan, a 2013 model, was the only unit sold among 10 luxury cars—eight of which belonged to the Discayas—during the auction’s third leg.

It was purchased by Baguio-based theme park Igorot Stone Kingdom Inc. for ₱29,026,000, slightly above the floor price of ₱29,025,132.58.

Pio Velasco, founder and CEO of Igorot Stone Kingdom, said the group bought the car to “preserve history” and prevent it from being destroyed after failing to sell in two previous auctions.

The Rolls-Royce’s floor price had been ₱45.31 million in November 2025 and ₱36.28 million in December 2025.

“Our purpose was to save it from eventual destruction if ever… and to preserve a piece of history [because] this car is historical because it opened the floodgates and the interest of the nation to this rampant corruption,” Velasco said, adding that the theme park might put the vehicle on public display.

Other registered bidders included R33 Car Exchange Corporation and TV host-producer Willie Revillame, represented by Christian James Ronquillo Lina.
