Former House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Representative Ferdinand Martin Romualdez issued a statement regarding the possible return of former Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co to the Philippines.
In a media interview on Tuesday, October 14, Romualdez was asked whether Co should come back to face the ongoing investigation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).
“All resource persons invited by the ICI are expected to return,” Romualdez responded.
Earlier, on October 9, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) confirmed that Co has not yet returned to the country.
“Ang alam po natin, si (dating) congressman Co ay wala sa ating bansa. ‘Yun po ang nakikita natin sa checking ng recent travel record,” said BI deputy spokesperson Melvin Mabulac.
Co is among the lawmakers accused of involvement in alleged budget insertions and kickbacks linked to anomalous flood control projects.
