House Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte 1st District Rep. Sandro Marcos on Tuesday publicly criticized his aunt, Senator Imee Marcos, accusing her of spreading falsehoods to destabilize the Marcos administration for personal political gain.
“It pains me to see how low she has gone to the point that she resorts to a web of lies aimed at destabilizing this government to advance her own political ambitions,” he said.
He also condemned the repetition of allegations targeting the President, the First Lady, and—for the first time—himself, saying, “Sa lahat po ng binanggit ni senadora, walang basehan, walang katotohanan, at walang magandang idudulot sa bayan.”
Marcos said his cousins Borgy, Ilocos Norte Vice Governor Matthew, and Atty. Michael “can attest that these allegations… are false.”
He lamented the senator’s actions, noting their long-standing agreement to avoid being dragged into issues between their parents.
“Nakakalungkot makita na ginagawa niya ito… For her to betray her own family brings a lot of pain,” he said.
Calling for unity, the congressman urged the public to reject destabilization efforts.
“Now is the time to unite behind truth… Panahon ngayon para magtulungan, hindi para magpalaganap ng gulo at destabilisasyon.”
He added, “HINDI ITO ASAL NG ISANG TUNAY NA KAPATID.”
Despite his criticism, he said his respect for his aunt remains, emphasizing that this would be the first and last time he addresses the matter publicly.
