The Supreme Court has turned down the appeal of Duterte Youth for the issuance of a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) decision that revoked its registration as a party-list group.
In an en banc resolution dated September 30, 2025, the high court denied Duterte Youth’s requests for a TRO, writ of preliminary injunction, and status quo ante order, effectively allowing the COMELEC’s ruling to stand while the case is pending.
The court also junked the group’s motion for a special raffle, citing that the urgency of the matter did not merit such action.
Duterte Youth lodged its petition on September 3, 2025, just weeks before the Comelec proclaimed Ang Probinsyano, Abono, and Murang Kuryente as the new party-list representatives to replace the three seats previously allotted to Duterte Youth.
In its petition, the group contested the June 18 and August 29, 2025 resolutions of the Comelec that formally cancelled its registration due to alleged irregularities and disqualifying circumstances.
While the Supreme Court denied the TRO and related motions, the en banc still directed the respondents — COMELEC and private individuals Reeya Beatrice Magtalas, Abigail Aleli Tan, Raainah Punzalan, and Aunell Ross Angcos — to submit their comments within 10 days.
The ruling signals another legal setback for Duterte Youth as it continues to challenge its removal from the official roster of accredited party-list organizations.
