SENATE FILLS MORE COMMITTEE CHAIRMANSHIPS FOR 20TH CONGRESS

The Senate leadership has confirmed new appointments to several previously vacant committees for the 20th Congress.

According to the official list released by the upper chamber, the newly designated chairpersons are as follows:

  • Senate Minority Deputy Leader Migz Zubiri – Economic Affairs
  • Senator Loren Legarda – Culture and Arts
  • Senator Bato dela Rosa – Civil Service, Government Reorganization and Professional Regulation
  • Senator Panfilo Lacson – Electoral Reforms and People’s Participation
  • Senator Mark Villar – Government Corporations and Public Enterprises
  • Senate Minority Deputy Leader Risa Hontiveros – Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality

Three committee chairmanships remain vacant, including the Senate Committee on Ethics, which Senate Minority Leader Tito Sotto has expressed interest in leading.

Senator Lito Lapid, despite being part of the majority, has yet to secure a committee chairmanship.

Meanwhile, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano confirmed that he will hand over the chairmanship of the Senate Committee on Science and Technology to Senator Bam Aquino.

Cayetano noted that they are currently arranging the formal turnover of responsibilities for the committee.
