Senator Raffy Tulfo has officially confirmed his support for Senate President Chiz Escudero in the race for Senate leadership in the 20th Congress.
In a press conference held on Tuesday, July 15, Tulfo emphasized that while he respects former Senate President Tito Sotto, he is more confident in Escudero’s leadership and work ethic based on firsthand experience.
“I have not worked with Sen. [Tito] Sotto. I don’t know him as far as his work ethics or leadership because I have not experienced it. Unlike Chiz, which I have experienced, and I did not see anything wrong about it. As they say, ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,’” Tulfo said.
Senator Erwin Tulfo, his brother, previously confirmed that both of them will vote for Escudero.
Escudero and Sotto are expected to go head-to-head in the Senate’s selection of its next leader, which is set to take place on July 28 — the opening day of the 20th Congress and the same day as President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA).
