San Miguel Corporation (SMC) announced that toll fees on all its expressways will be waived on Christmas Eve (December 24) and New Year’s Eve (December 31) to help motorists traveling late at night to reunite with their families.
The toll holiday applies to all SMC-operated expressways, including the Skyway System, NAIA Expressway (NAIAX), South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), STAR Tollway, and the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX). Tolls will be waived from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on both occasions.
In a statement, SMC Infrastructure said additional patrol and security personnel have been deployed, with emergency response teams on standby to clear road obstructions starting December 20.
“We already placed safety and security personnel on heightened alert and rolled out measures to manage the expected increase in traffic during the holiday period,” the company said.
SMC said it coordinated with local government units and national agencies to manage traffic on public roads connecting to expressways. Traffic monitoring centers will operate 24/7, and roadworks affecting flow have been suspended until January 4, 2026.
Tow trucks and emergency vehicles have been strategically stationed for faster incident response.
“The SMC Infrastructure advises motorists to plan their trips ahead, allow extra travel time and ensure sufficient balance in their Autosweep accounts to avoid delays at toll plazas,” the statement read.
