SOLON SLAMS MALACAÑANG OVER REFUSAL TO RELEASE PBBM, CABINET SALNs

Kamanggagawa Party-list Representative Eli San Fernando has criticized Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and Malacañang for what he described as a “hypocritical excuse” in refusing to release the Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his Cabinet members.

San Fernando questioned the administration’s hesitation to make their wealth declarations public, stressing that genuine transparency requires full disclosure.

“Kung wala namang itinatago, bakit kailangang matakot na ipakita at ipa-audit sa taumbayan ang kanilang SALN,” he said.

He argued that if transparency is truly the goal of those in government, there should be no issue in allowing public scrutiny of their SALNs.

Bersamin earlier stated that the release of officials’ SALNs should be allowed only for legitimate purposes, warning against their supposed political misuse.

San Fernando, however, denounced what he called the government’s “tired excuse” and accused the administration of being “allergic to accountability.”

The lawmaker recently made public his own SALN, saying that honesty should not be treated as a risk but rather as a responsibility.

“Hindi naman delikado ang pagiging tapat,” San Fernando emphasized. “Ang delikado ay ang sistematikong pagtatago ng yaman habang baon sa utang at kahirapan ang bayan.”
