SOTTO DENIES IMEE’S ALLEGATIONS ON SENATE PROBE

Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III on Friday refuted Senator Imee Marcos’ claim that she and other minority members were being blocked from implicating officials during the Senate Blue Ribbon probe on flood control corruption.

Marcos had said she lost trust in the investigation led by Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and the DOJ, calling the probe “moro-moro” or staged, and noting that only senators, not House members, faced charges.

She also questioned the absence of cases against her cousin and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

“Imbento. I don’t know who’s the silly fool who told her. There’s no such thing. So the accusation is again unfair and baseless,” Sotto said. “She’s entitled to her wrong – este, her own – opinion.”

Sotto also denied Marcos’ claim that the 2026 General Appropriations Act (GAA) contains pork barrel items intended to push for Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment.

He noted that the law includes safeguards preventing politicians from influencing government financial aid.

“It’s not possible. Her accusations are unfair and baseless. Paano mo idadangle, kung hindi na pwede makialam ang mga kongresista,” Sotto said.

“Hindi nababanggit si VP Sara except during her budget time. Ewan ko masyado nagiging siguro iba, nagiging paranoid,” he added.
