Senate Minority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto III on Wednesday voiced frustration over survey results showing a significant drop in the Senate’s trust and performance ratings — now lower than those of the House of Representatives.
According to the latest OCTA Research survey released Tuesday, the Senate’s trust rating for the second quarter of 2025 fell to 49% from 57%, while its performance approval rating slid to 47% from 53%.
“The rating of the Senate has never been this low much less than even lower than the (House of Representatives). Never!” Sotto told reporters.
He urged his fellow lawmakers to avoid repeating controversies tied to the national budget, particularly alleged insertions, if they want to regain public trust.
“Para makabawi? Never repeat what happened to the budget last year and listen more to the cries of our people,” Sotto said.
In contrast, the House of Representatives saw an uptick in its ratings. Trust in the chamber climbed to 57% from 49%, while its performance rating rose to 55% from 47%.
