TEODORO URGES EARLY EVACUATION AHEAD OF SUPER TYPHOON UWAN

Defense Secretary and NDRRMC Chairman Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. has urged local officials and residents to take immediate precautionary measures ahead of Super Typhoon Uwan, stressing that communities must act before conditions worsen.

Teodoro underscored the importance of pre-emptive evacuations in high-risk areas and directed barangay officials to coordinate with municipal and provincial disaster officers. He also instructed mayors and governors to supervise preparations in close consultation with OCD regional directors.

“Ito po ay kinakailangan nating gawin dahil pagka umuulan na o tumama na iyong bagyo, nag-uumpisa na ang baha, mahirap na po sumagip ng tao,” Teodoro said.

He warned that Northern and Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Southern Luzon (including Southern Tagalog), Bicol, Eastern and Central Visayas (including Cebu and Iloilo), and parts of Eastern and Northern Mindanao are likely to experience the typhoon’s impact.

Teodoro reminded the public to avoid unnecessary travel to keep roads and ports open for emergency and relief operations. He also emphasized prioritizing the evacuation of vulnerable groups—the elderly, children, and persons with special needs.

The AFP, PNP, BFP, and PCG have been mobilized to support local governments in evacuation and rescue efforts.

The DND also noted that Proclamation No. 1077, which placed the country under a state of national calamity due to Typhoon Tino, remains in effect for one year from November 7, 2025, unless lifted earlier by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Teodoro urged the public to stay updated through official channels and report any communication or power disruptions to authorities for immediate response.
