THE ICONIC “LOVE BUS” RETURNS TO METRO MANILA STREETS AFTER DECADES

After several decades, the iconic Love Bus is officially back on the streets of Metro Manila—relaunched in Valenzuela City yesterday, September 13, with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. himself taking a ride.

In his press conference, President Marcos confirmed that the government’s revived transport program will once again serve Metro Manila, aiming to provide safe, high-quality, and affordable fares for Filipinos.

“Malapit na, lalabas na, para sa mga estudyante may 50% naman na discount kaya’t nandito tayo para ma-testing kung talagang magandang takbo, mukha naman maganda kaya’t tangkilikin po ninyo ang bago nating Love Bus,” Marcos Jr. said.

The modernized Love Bus fleet is fully electric and stays true to its roots with the iconic blue theme and logo. The new units are air-conditioned, equipped with CCTV, screens, and designed to be PWD-friendly.

The buses will operate daily from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM throughout September. Rides will remain free until October, but only during selected hours such as rush hour. Persons with disabilities (PWDs) and senior citizens will continue to enjoy free rides.

Originally launched in 1975 under the administration of the late dictator President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and First Lady Imelda Marcos, the Love Bus became a symbol of modern mass transport during that era. However, operations ceased in the 1990s under the administration of the late former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino.
