Thousands of commuters have started returning to Metro Manila early Monday morning following the Undas long weekend, as crowds built up in major transport hubs.
As of 5 a.m., the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) recorded 11,082 arriving passengers, according to terminal management.
Kolyn Calbasa, Senior Corporate Officer of PITX, said they expect the number of travelers to reach 180,000 to 190,000 by the end of the day—higher than the usual daily average of 160,000 passengers.
“We are expecting the influx to continue until Wednesday as people return to work and school after the long weekend,” Calbasa said.
Security within the terminal remained strict, similar to the measures enforced before the holiday. Police officers, medical responders, and PITX personnel were deployed across the facility to assist commuters and maintain order.
Authorities advised passengers to plan their trips ahead and remain alert amid the continued surge of travelers returning to the capital.
