Vice President Sara Duterte has cast doubt on President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s sincerity in investigating corruption surrounding the government’s anomalous flood control projects.
Speaking from The Hague, Netherlands—where she once again visited her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, now detained at the ICC on charges of crimes against humanity—Duterte said the administration’s creation of an independent fact-finding committee was far too late.
“Too little, too late yung administration,” the Vice President declared.
She further suggested that Marcos’ anti-corruption campaign may not be as straightforward as it appears, hinting at possible schemes being concealed from the public.
“Hindi lang sa administrasyon na iyo—sa lahat ng mga dumaan na administrasyon, hindi lang sa administrasyon ni Pangulong (Rodrigo) Duterte,” Duterte said, recalling that flood control corruption has been a long-running issue.
“Alam na natin ‘yan lahat. Naging mayor ako (noong) 2010, mayroon ng issue ng flood control corruption,” she added.
The Vice President went on to challenge Marcos directly, saying that if he were truly serious about fighting corruption in flood control projects, he could resolve the matter in a single day.
Malacañang has yet to issue a response to Duterte’s latest remarks.
