Lawyer Israelito Torreon has raised the possibility of a tandem between Vice President Sara Duterte and her brother, Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, in the 2028 national elections.
In a social media post, Torreon declared:
“My fearless forecast for 2028 elections: President : Sarah Zimmerman Duterte; Vice President : Sebastian Zimmerman Duterte. Suportahan na natin ito, para sa bayan ito!”
Torreon, who serves as legal counsel to televangelist Apollo Quiboloy, also pushed for the implementation of Section 31 of Republic Act 9369, which allows the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to use an automated election system.
He argued that manual counting at precincts combined with electronic transmission of results would ensure transparency and verifiable records.
He further called for possible impeachment proceedings against COMELEC officials who oppose the measure, citing alleged questionable actions during the 2025 midterm elections.
Torreon warned:
“May posibilidad kasi na maski gaano kalakas ang Duterte/Duterte tandem, baka ma-magic lang at hindi mabilang ang mga boto dahil wala tayong datus kada presinto.”
The lawyer also urged the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee to investigate the issue, stressing the need for reforms to safeguard electoral integrity.
