Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, together with civil society group The Silent Majority, filed plunder, malversation, and graft complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte before the Ombudsman on Wednesday.
The complaints alleged misuse of billions in confidential and other public funds, covering Duterte’s actions during her tenure as vice mayor and later mayor of Davao City, as well as her time as Vice President and Education Secretary from 2022 until June 2024.
“This is about accountability,” Trillanes told members of the media.
As of press time, neither Vice President Duterte nor the Office of the Vice President has issued a response to the charges.
