TRILLANES SLAMS ICI OVER ALLEGED INACTION

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV took a swipe at the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) following the resignation of Commissioner Rossana Fajardo, accusing the body of failing to investigate high-profile figures.

In an interview, Trillanes claimed the commission did not act on allegations involving Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte and Senator Bong Go, despite what he described as glaring red flags.

“It’s either takot o kakampi nila… itong isang ₱51 billion, itong ICI ni hindi man lang sinilip. Ilan ‘yung naging imbestigador diyan,” Trillanes said.

He went on to challenge the credibility of the commission, saying, “Kaya itong panawagan ko sa ICI, na kung ‘yang dalawa na ‘yan na napaka-obvious na mga kaso, hindi n’yo maimbestigahan eh magsara na lang kayo.”

Trillanes was referring to revelations by the late Public Works Undersecretary Catalina Cabral, who alleged that around ₱51 billion in funds were allocated to Duterte’s district from 2020 to 2022.

He also accused Go and former President Rodrigo Duterte of allegedly diverting ₱7 billion worth of government infrastructure projects to companies owned by the senator’s father and brother.
