TRILLANES TO FILE CASE VS SEN. BONG GO OVER ALLEGED ₱7B CONTRACTS

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV announced that he will file charges against Senator Bong Go over alleged government contracts worth ₱7 billion that were supposedly awarded to companies owned by Go’s father and brother.

In an interview on Bilyonaryo News Channel’s On Point hosted by Pinky Webb, Trillanes was asked about newly appointed Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla and the cases he believes the Ombudsman should prioritize.

“He’s the best candidate given the situation. Of course, he’s no perfect candidate (but) nobody is. Pero kailangan mo kasi ng Ombudsman at this point na may gravitas, and he has displayed that nung pino-pursue niya yung mga highly confidential cases na normally maghe-hesitate yung mga secretary of justice, pero siya tinuloy niya, ginawa niya. And you’ll have to give him credit for that at importanteng requisite yun for the job ahead as Ombudsman,” Trillanes said.

The former senator added that Remulla’s experience at the Department of Justice will be an advantage in his new post.

“He can hit the ground running. Anong ipa-prioritize nya? Maraming kaso na nandidyan pending sa Ombudsman,” he added.

Trillanes revealed that he will file a case next week against Go over alleged infrastructure anomalies.

“I’ll be filing next week yung mga infra scandal ni Bong Go na yung ₱7 billion na binigay nya, in-award nya sa kanyang tatay at kapatid,” he said.

According to Trillanes, he had already filed a similar case last year, long before the recent flood control scandal came to light.

“Naghahanap tayo ngayon, di ba? Ito yung mga contractors sinasabi nila sino yung mga proponents nito, sino yung nasa likod, ito deretso eh, kamag-anak, tatay nya tsaka kapatid nya. First degree of consanguinity, yan ang maliwanag na definition sa plunder law, so si Bong Go yan I’ll be filing that case,” the former lawmaker emphasized.

Trillanes also urged the new Ombudsman to revisit the cases involving Vice President Sara Duterte, particularly the alleged misuse of confidential funds.

“…Kailangan nyang i-prioritize yan kasi pinatay na nila yung impeachment eh, o dun nalang (sa Ombudsman),” he added.
