TRILLANES WARNS GO, ALBAYALDE OF POTENTIAL ICC WARRANTS

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Tuesday warned that Senator Bong Go and former PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde could face arrest warrants from the International Criminal Court (ICC) over their alleged roles in former President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs.

In an interview, Trillanes said the ICC may issue up to four warrants, targeting Duterte, Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, Go, and Albayalde.

“Eventually, probably, at most, four will be issued, (including) Bong Go and Albayalde,” he said, noting that Duterte and dela Rosa are likely to be the first.

Trillanes added that warrants for Go and Albayalde could come as early as next year, as the ICC focuses on the alleged top-level architects.

“The ICC is only interested in the most responsible. They’re not really after even the mid-level operators. So, the warrant will be narrowed down,” he said.

Commenting on dela Rosa’s extended absence from Senate sessions amid ICC reports, Trillanes compared it to Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson’s 2010 disappearance related to the 2000 Dacer-Corbito case.

“After, I think, nine months, the Senate decided to padlock his office for as long as hindi siya nagpapakita. So yung mga staff niya eventually were absorbed by the Senate Secretariat,” he said.

“Palagay ko kung merong paggagayahan ng treatment kay Sen. Bato dela Rosa, it’s this precedent of Sen. Lacson,” he added.
