TROPICAL DEPRESSION VERBENA NEARS CARAGA LANDMASS

Tropical Depression Verbena has maintained its strength as it moves closer to the Caraga Region, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday, November 24.

In its 2:00 PM weather bulletin, PAGASA reported that the storm continues to traverse the waters toward Caraga. Its center was last spotted in the vicinity of Bayabas, Surigao del Sur.

Verbena carries maximum sustained winds of up to 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness reaching 55 kilometers per hour. It is moving westward at 25 kilometers per hour.

PAGASA added that the tropical depression may make landfall in the region this afternoon or evening before crossing the Visayas and the northern portion of Palawan. Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is currently raised in several areas across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
