TROPICAL DEPRESSION WILMA TO MAKE LANDFALL IN EASTERN VISAYAS SATURDAY

Tropical Depression Wilma is maintaining its strength and is expected to make its initial landfall over Eastern Visayas on Saturday, December 6.

According to PAGASA’s 8 a.m. bulletin, Wilma was last located 70 kilometers East of Borongan City, Eastern Samar, moving slowly westward with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph.

Several areas remain under Signal No. 1:

Luzon: Sorsogon, Masbate including Ticao and Burias Islands, Romblon, southern Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, and northernmost Palawan including Cuyo, Calamian, and Cagayancillo Islands.

Visayas: Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Cebu including Bantayan and Camotes Islands, Bohol, Negros Occidental, Siquijor, northern and central Negros Oriental, Guimaras, Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, and Antique.

Mindanao: Surigao del Norte including Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands, Dinagat Islands, northern Surigao del Sur, northern Agusan del Norte, and Camiguin.

PAGASA said Wilma is forecast to emerge over the Sulu Sea and may pass over northern Palawan by Monday morning.

While still over the Philippine Sea, the tropical depression may trigger intense rain in the Samar provinces and Biliran.
