TULFO LAUDS SOKOR ENVOY FOR SWIFT ACTION ON ‘KOREAN-ONLY’ ESTABLISHMENTS

Senator Erwin Tulfo on Sunday, April 5, commended Lee Sang Hwa for his prompt response to complaints about the alleged “Korean-only” establishments in Angeles City and Clark Freeport Zone.

The senator had earlier called for an investigation into reports that some Korean-owned hotels, restaurants, KTV bars, and other businesses were allegedly barring Filipinos from entering.

Tulfo warned that such establishments could face closure if the claims were proven true.

“I thank Ambassador Lee for his speedy action in immediately conducting an investigation on the complaints against Korean-owned establishments in the Philippines,” Tulfo said.

According to Tulfo, complaints received by his office alleged that several Korean KTVs and restaurants in Central Luzon were prohibiting Filipinos from entering.

In response, Ambassador Lee submitted a report outlining measures taken by the Central Luzon Korean Association to prevent further incidents of discrimination.

“Among the steps taken by the reported Korean-owned KTV and Restaurants are the posting of apology on their doors regarding the policy and a promise they will not do it anymore,” Tulfo noted.

The senator also praised the Korean community for committing to regular monitoring and inspections to ensure compliance with Philippine laws.

For his part, Ambassador Lee assured continued cooperation, vowing to act swiftly on any future concerns raised with the embassy.
