Senator Raffy Tulfo on Monday, March 2, said he has no intention of running for president or vice president in the 2028 elections, stressing that he is content with his role in the Senate.
“Ayoko sagutin yan dahil wala akong balak. ‘Pag may balak ako sasagutin ko yan kaso wala akong balak,” Tulfo said.
He added that this applies “as of today” and “as of the future.”
Tulfo said he finds fulfillment in his current post, citing the work he is able to accomplish as a lawmaker.
“Masaya ako dito sa Senado. Marami akong nagagawa. For me, happy ako dito. So bakit ako pupunta sa isang bagay na magkakaroon pa ako ng sakit sa ulo?” he explained.
The senator noted that his position allows him to engage directly with people and address their concerns firsthand, helping him better understand problems and craft concrete solutions.
He also described the presidency as a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” situation.
“Kung gumawa ka ng tama, mayroon pa rin kukontra sa’yo na mali ka. Hindi ka gumawa, sabihin tamad ka at wala kang pakinabang, etc. So wala kang pupuntaan doon eh,” Tulfo said.
Tulfo disclosed that some individuals had already approached him to consider seeking higher office, but he declined, emphasizing that he is satisfied with being re-elected senator.
He added that he would support candidates in 2028 whose platforms align with his advocacies, whether from the administration or opposition.
“Best of luck ang wish ko kay VP Sara [Duterte] at sa lahat ng mga nag-aspire na maging kandidato for the presidency sa 2028, all of them,” he said.
