TYHOON TINO DAMAGES OVER 250,000 HOMES, KILLS 232

Typhoon Tino has damaged 253,455 dwellings, with flash floods and strong winds affecting several areas, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Thursday.

Of the affected homes in seven regions, 214,764 were “partially damaged” and 38,691 “totally damaged.” Damage to agriculture and infrastructure reached ₱157,952,870 and ₱483,013,585, respectively.

The reported death toll remains at 232, with 523 injured and 125 missing, numbers still subject to verification. An estimated 1,224,877 families or 4,263,991 people in 7,918 barangays across nine regions were affected. As of Thursday, 62,611 families are sheltered in 828 evacuation centers.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. declared a state of national calamity to hasten relief, rehabilitation, and recovery, allowing faster access to calamity funds, price controls on basic commodities, and streamlined deployment of national government assistance.
