UNEMPLOYMENT EDGES UP IN DECEMBER 2025

The number of unemployed Filipinos slightly increased in December 2025, according to data released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on Friday.

Based on the PSA’s Labor Force Survey, around 2.26 million individuals aged 15 and above were jobless during the month—marginally higher than the 2.25 million recorded in November 2025.

The figure is also significantly higher compared to the 1.63 million unemployed Filipinos in December 2024.

PSA chief statistician Claire Dennis Mapa said the data translates to an unemployment rate of 4.4 percent out of the country’s estimated 51.69 million labor force.
