Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has called on the government to reallocate unused or non-urgent budget funds toward immediate assistance programs for Filipinos struggling with rising fuel prices.
Go underscored the urgency of providing relief, warning that delays in aid distribution only worsen the hardships faced by workers and families.
“Mabilisan dapat ito! Hindi pwedeng pag-usapan lang natin ito nang matagal habang naghihirap ang mga tao,” Go said.
The senator has filed the Fuel Crisis Immediate Relief and Response Bill, which seeks to institutionalize a fast-response mechanism for government aid whenever fuel prices sharply increase.
He also renewed his appeal for the use of unspent or non-essential government allocations to support affected communities.
“Kung may mga pondo na hindi pa nagagamit o hindi naman agad kailangan, baka puwedeng iyon muna ang gamitin para makatulong sa ating mga kababayan,” he added.
Go emphasized that prioritizing emergency relief measures would help cushion the impact of fuel price hikes on vulnerable sectors, while ensuring that government resources are maximized during periods of economic strain.
