UP VOICES SUPPORT FOR NOV. 30 ANTI-CORRUPTION PROTESTS

The University of the Philippines (UP) has expressed its support for the upcoming anti-corruption demonstrations scheduled for November 30.

In a Facebook post on Friday, November 28, UP stated that it is renewing its call for transparency, accountability, and justice as Filipinos prepare to mobilize on Bonifacio Day—honoring Andres Bonifacio, founder of the Kataas-taasang Kagalang-galangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan (KKK), who led the revolution against Spain in the 1890s.

“The University of the Philippines renews its call for transparency, accountability, and justice, and joins the Filipino people in lawful anti-corruption mobilizations on Bonifacio Day, Nov. 30,” the university said.

“UP itself is actively taking measures to enhance quality management and assurance systems,” it added, “to effectively address key challenges in public infrastructure, strengthen accountability, and build institutional capacity.”

The university further urged its community to engage in meaningful dialogue.

“We encourage robust discussions within the community as part of our ongoing commitment to good governance. This is our moment to advance genuine reforms.

UP also reaffirmed its stand on upholding the rights of its constituents to freely express themselves and assemble peacefully.

“We urge law enforcement authorities to uphold these fundamental rights. Together, let us drive systemic transformation, because the fight for a just and honest society cannot wait,” it said.

Two major mass actions are expected across Metro Manila on November 30—the Trillion Peso March at the EDSA People Power Monument and the Baha sa Luneta 2.0 protest in Rizal Park.
