VILLANUEVA: SENATE MINORITY DOESN’T NEED ANOTHER COUP

Senate Deputy Minority Leader Joel Villanueva has spoken out regarding rumors of a possible new coup brewing in the Senate.

In a media interview on Monday, October 6, Villanueva said that such a move is not something the Senate minority deems necessary at this point.

“Hindi namin kailangan siguro. It’s not on the priority list. So many things that we have to think about,” the senator said.

Reports of another coup attempt first surfaced on September 14, following a sudden leadership shake-up within the Senate majority.

Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III replaced Senator Chiz Escudero as Senate President during the second hearing of the Senate Committee on Accountability, Public Officers and Investigations (Blue Ribbon) on the alleged irregularities in flood control projects.

Meanwhile, Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson assumed the position of Senate President Pro Tempore, replacing Senator Jinggoy Estrada, while Senator Migz Zubiri took over Villanueva’s former role as Senate Majority Floor Leader.
