Vice President Sara Duterte once again lashed out at President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. following his creation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) through Executive Order No. 94. The commission is tasked to investigate anomalies in public works projects, particularly the controversial flood control projects now under scrutiny.
Speaking after attending the House Committee on Appropriations hearing on the 2026 budget of the Office of the Vice President (OVP), Duterte wasted no time criticizing Marcos’ decision.
“Ano pa bang komisyon, anong truth commission, anong investigative body pa ang kailangan mo?” the Vice President fired back.
Duterte argued that Marcos should have acted on the flood control issue long ago, stressing that as president, he holds the primary responsibility.
“Pag ikaw Presidente ba, tapos alam mo na ano nangyayari… tapos nakikita mo na based on the budget kung paano binaboy yung pera ng bayan, mag-aantay ka pa ba ng komisyon o ng truth commission na yan, aaksyunan mo kasi dapat yan eh,” she said.
She went further, openly challenging Marcos’ ties with House Speaker Martin Romualdez: “Nandyan na yung budget, nakikita natin kung paano siya kinuha, diba dapat diretso mo na gawin, tanggalin mo na yung (House) Speaker mo,” Duterte added.
Meanwhile, the Vice President dismissed reports about her father’s supposed “cognitive impairment,” a claim raised by former President Rodrigo Duterte’s lawyer at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
According to Sara, the former president remains sharp. “He’s okay, nag-usap kami about politics, nag-usap kami about flood control, nag-usap kami about, lovelife niya,” she said, adding that she would not go into details regarding the ICC case.
