Vice President Sara Duterte confirmed that she will not be watching the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., not even via livestream.
Speaking at the “Free Duterte Rally” in South Korea, the Vice President made her sentiments clear regarding the President’s upcoming national address.
“Sayang ang data. Ayoko rin na manood. Kasi alam n’yo sa totoo lang talaga, nati-trigger ako pag nakikinig ako sa kanya,” said Duterte, referring to President Marcos.
She further added that she feels irritated whenever she sees the President.
“Naiirita ako pag nakikita ko siya,” Duterte added.
Earlier, Duterte had also argued that there is no legal requirement for Filipinos, including her as Vice President, to watch or attend the SONA. Her statement came after Palace Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro emphasized that it is part of the Vice President’s duty to attend and listen to the President’s annual address.
The tensions between Duterte and the Marcos administration have been the subject of growing public and political attention, especially as the President prepares to deliver his third SONA.
