VP SARA: ‘SIGURADO AKONG HINDI AABOT SA AKIN ANG FLOOD CONTROL SCANDAL’

Vice President Sara Duterte expressed confidence that she would not be implicated in the alleged flood control corruption scandal, despite accusations attempting to tie her and her political allies to the controversy.

Speaking at a press conference during the World Pandesal Day celebration at Kamuning Bakery Café in Quezon City, Duterte said she expects attempts to drag her into the issue because of her close ties with Senator Bong Go and former President Rodrigo Duterte, but stressed that such claims have no factual basis.

“Sigurado ako hindi aabot sa akin ‘yung flood control scandal,” the Vice President asserted.

She clarified that neither the Office of the Vice President (OVP) nor the Department of Education (DepEd)—which she led until July—handled any flood control projects.

“Kasi unang-una, wala namang flood control projects sa OVP o Department of Education. At nakasabi naman talaga ang mga contractors, ilan si Sec. (Manuel) Bonoan, wala talaga akong project at all sa DPWH,” Duterte explained.

The Vice President emphasized that she has never been involved in any dealings related to the alleged anomalous infrastructure projects.

“Hindi ako sumasali sa ganyan,” she said firmly.

However, Duterte believes that some sectors are deliberately trying to link her to the issue for political reasons.

“Kung aabot ba sa akin? Sa tingin ko susubukan nilang paabutin sa akin dahil sa kaalyado ni dating Pangulong Duterte si Sen. Bong Go. Doon siguro nila gagawan ng kwento—‘yun ‘yung part na ako, si PRRD sa gitna, at si Sen. Bong Go sa kabilang side,” she remarked.

When asked if she thinks investigators would attempt to implicate her and her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, she replied candidly: “Oo, at saka sa akin.”

Despite the controversy, the Vice President maintained her composure, saying she remains focused on her duties and unbothered by politically motivated narratives.
