Customers of Manila Water and Maynilad will face higher water bills starting January 2026, as regulators announced the fourth tranche of staggered rate rebasing adjustments that began in 2023.
Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) Regulatory Office Chief Regulator Patrick Ty said the increase reflects approved adjustments tied to service improvements, particularly in sewerage coverage.
“Sa Manila Water, nagkaroon ng increase ng environmental charge. They were able to increase their sewer coverage from 25 percent to 30 percent,” Ty said during a televised government briefing.
For Manila Water customers in the east zone, monthly bills in the first quarter of 2026 will increase by ₱29.86 for consumption of 10 cubic meters (m3) or less, ₱66.25 for 20 m3, and ₱135.22 for 30 m3. Under the enhanced lifeline program for low-income households, bills will rise by ₱4.24 for 10 m3 or less and ₱12.90 for 20 m3.
Maynilad customers in the west zone will see smaller increases, with monthly bills going up by ₱5.06 for 10 m3 or less, ₱19.06 for 20 m3, and ₱39.04 for 30 m3. Lifeline rate adjustments will amount to ₱1.02 for 10 m3 or less and ₱2.55 for 20 m3.
Ty assured the public that the regulator will closely monitor how the concessionaires spend the funds raised from the adjustments.
“We are here to ensure that the two concessionaires are doing these projects efficiently, hindi substandard ang proyekto, at walang ghost project,” he said.
Manila Water currently serves about 7.8 million customers in Metro Manila’s east zone and parts of Rizal, while Maynilad supplies water to around 10.5 million customers in the west zone and areas of Cavite.
