WR NUMERO RESEARCH: GEN Z NOT SOLE FACTOR IN AQUINO, PANGILINAN WIN

Survey firm WR Numero Research clarified that it would be inaccurate to attribute the victory of Senators Bam Aquino and Kiko Pangilinan in the 2025 midterm elections solely to the votes of Generation Z (Gen Z).

This was stated by Dr. Robin Michael Garcia, political scientist, professor, and chairman of WR Numero Research, during an interview on Wednesday, October 22.

“Hindi natin puwedeng sabihin na necessarily kaya nanalo sina Bam at nanalo si Kiko ay dahil sa Gen Z or youth vote,” Garcia began.

He explained that the notion remains unconfirmed, as their data indicates that nearly 40% of Gen Z voters still lean toward the Duterte political camp.

“It’s still a hypothetical, unconfirmed hypothesis. In fact, the data tell us otherwise na 31 percent, in fact more, the 36 percent—almost 40 percent of the Gen Z, of the youth are pro Duterte if the election were held today,” Garcia clarified.

He further emphasized that a significant portion of young voters continue to express support for the Dutertes.

“Therefore, the factional partisanship currently, a huge part of it, are still supporting the Duterte collision[…]” he added.

Garcia concluded by underscoring that the Gen Z vote is far from uniform.

“Ang lesson diyan, hindi homogeneous itong Gen Z vote,” he said.

Senators Aquino and Pangilinan surprised many after finishing second and fifth, respectively, in the official results of the 2025 senatorial race, despite being outside the “winning circle” in most pre-election surveys during the campaign period.
