YOUTH-LED RALLIES SET VS. CORRUPT FLOOD CONTROL PROJECTS — TAMA NA NETWORK

The Taumbayan Ayaw sa Magnanakaw at Abusado Network Alliance (TAMA NA) is set to hold another series of protest actions to maintain public pressure and demand accountability over alleged irregularities in government flood control projects.

In a Facebook post on Monday, October 13, TAMA NA announced that youth groups will lead a major rally in Mendiola on October 17.

“The youth refuse to be silent while billions in public funds are stolen. We will bring our voices to the gates of power,” the organizers declared.

Meanwhile, another protest is scheduled for October 21 at Liwasang Bonifacio, to be joined by farmers’ groups from communities affected by alleged anomalous and substandard infrastructure projects, including flood control and farm-to-market roads.

According to the movement’s convenors: “These actions are part of our growing people’s movement against corruption and neglect. The government cannot sweep this under the rug.”

They further emphasized: “Ang taumbayan ay hindi titigil. Hindi ito isang protesta lang. Isang kilusan ito laban sa korapsyon at kawalang pananagutan.”

TAMA NA previously organized the “Baha Sa Luneta” rally on September 21, which drew thousands of participants — including students, educators, writers, artists, religious communities, and other civic groups — in a show of defiance against deep-rooted corruption in government.
