ALEX EALA ADVANCES TO MIAMI OPEN ROUND OF 16 WITH STRAIGHT-SETS WIN

Filipina tennis star Alex Eala advanced to the Round of 16 of the Miami Open after defeating Poland’s Magda Linette in straight sets on Sunday, March 22.

Eala took early control of the match, winning the opening set 6–3. The second set proved more competitive as Linette forced a 6–6 deadlock, pushing the match into a tiebreak. Eala held firm to seal the victory, 6–3, 7–6(2).

Reflecting on the match, Eala acknowledged her opponent’s resilience.

“Magda is such a fighter. She always puts me in difficult positions… I really enjoyed the battle,” she said. “I like to think being aggressive is what I aim to do. Of course I have an amazing team who really help me take it to the next level.”

The victory sets up Eala’s first-ever WTA Tour meeting with Karolína Muchová in the Round of 16.
