Filipina tennis standout Alex Eala has reached a new milestone in her career, moving up to World No. 31 in the latest Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings following a strong quarterfinal finish at the Dubai Tennis Championships.
Eala surged 16 spots from her previous No. 47 ranking, surpassing her earlier career-high of No. 40 set at the Abu Dhabi Open.
Her Dubai campaign earned her 215 ranking points, aided by a second-round entry after Hailey Baptiste withdrew due to injury.
She then stunned World No. 8 Jasmine Paolini in the Round of 32 and followed it with a win over Sorana Cirstea, then ranked World No. 32, before bowing out in the quarterfinals.
This latest achievement reinforces Eala’s status as one of the fastest-rising stars in women’s tennis and a source of pride for Philippine sports.
