The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) is set to release ₱375 million in funds to aid communities affected by the recent earthquake in Cebu.
Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said the directive was in compliance with the order of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., emphasizing that immediate government response is crucial during disasters.
“Our government is prepared. We have standby funds that can be tapped immediately to deliver assistance to those affected. In moments like this, government aid must never be delayed,” Pangandaman said.
Of the total amount, ₱150 million will be allocated to the Province of Cebu, while ₱75 million each will go to San Remigio, Bogo City, and Medellin, which were among the hardest-hit areas.
Pangandaman added that the President wants all government agencies to move in coordination to ensure quick recovery for earthquake survivors.
“This is a whole-of-government approach—from the release of funds, to the delivery of emergency services, and the conduct of ground zero assessments,” she explained.
