
With three years to go before the next Philippine presidential election, new names are already emerging as potential contenders.
According to a nationwide survey conducted by polling firm Tangere from June 20 to 22 with 2,000 respondents, Vice President Sara Duterte currently leads the pack with a 35% voter preference — despite facing an upcoming impeachment trial in the Senate.
Trailing behind Duterte is former Vice President and newly elected Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo with 19%, followed by Senator Bong Go with 13%.
Other notable names in the presidential preferences include Senator Raffy Tulfo (9%), House Speaker Martin Romualdez (6%), Senator Risa Hontiveros (3%), Senate President Chiz Escudero (3%), Senator Robinhood Padilla (1%), and Senator Imee Marcos (1%).
As for vice-presidential preferences, Senator Bong Go tops the list with 38%, followed closely by Senator-elect Bam Aquino with 22% — a surprising surge given his recent return to politics.
Also in the running are Senator Raffy Tulfo (9%), Senator Risa Hontiveros (5%), Senator-elect Erwin Tulfo (4%), Senate President Chiz Escudero (4%), Senator Imee Marcos (4%), and Senator Robinhood Padilla (3%).
This early snapshot of the 2028 national elections signals a competitive and dynamic political landscape, with familiar names and returning figures shaping the race.
